Côte d'Ivoire Travel Alert: Terrorism and Piracy Threaten Visitors
The U.S. Embassy has reissued a Level 2 travel advisory for Côte d'Ivoire, urging visitors to exercise increased caution due to multiple security threats. Violent crime including carjacking, robbery, and home invasions remains common in certain areas, while terrorist groups pose risks to tourist hotspots, hotels, restaurants, and places of worship. Al-Qaeda-linked militants have previously crossed from neighboring Burkina Faso to conduct attacks in the country's northern regions.
