Schengen Visas Amid Rising Travel Costs

Travel costs climb across Europe, but Schengen entry rules evolve with key changes on the horizon. From October 12, 2025, the EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) launches, requiring visa-exempt travelers like Australians and Americans to register biometrics-fingerprints and photos-at borders for short stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period across 29-30 countries. No pre-arrival action or fee applies for EES, though expect longer queues as it replaces passport stamps.
