Coalition Proposes 60-Hour Student Visa Work Cap

Australia's Coalition proposes raising the Student Visa (subclass 500) work limit from 48 to 60 hours per fortnight during study terms, starting 1 July 2026 if enacted. The plan, detailed in the Parliamentary Budget Office’s 2025 Election Commitments Report, aims to boost income tax revenue by AU$334 million and ease labor shortages in hospitality, aged care, and agriculture.
