Aer Lingus Fights U.S. Airlines' Challenge to Dublin Airport Cap
Ireland's government has launched formal legislative action to lift Dublin Airport's 32 million annual passenger cap, a planning restriction imposed in 2007 that now constrains the nation's primary international gateway. The Dublin Airport (Passenger Capacity) Bill 2026 would empower Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien to amend or revoke the limit, which the airport has already exceeded - handling approximately 36 million passengers in 2025.
